ABOUT

The New Old West

Kelly McDermott (b. 1989) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work reimagines modern life through the lens of Americana. Rooted in nostalgia yet distinctly contemporary, McDermott’s paintings weave together cultural critique, irony, and the enduring appeal of mid-century iconography. Her work explores the evolving narratives of the American Dream, blending Western motifs, roadside imagery, and bold typography to reflect on the complexities of identity, progress, and tradition.

With a style that bridges the familiar and the unexpected, McDermott reclaims the visual language of the past to tell stories of the present, layering history with sharp observations and a vibrant, painterly touch.

McDermott currently calls either Edinburgh or Phoenix home. Her artistic footprint reaches across the globe, attracting collectors worldwide and showcasing exhibitions in diverse locations— from Times Square, New York, to Milan, Italy, Ibiza and numerous places in between.
